This is a collaborative initiative with The Safe Space—a Lahore-based community mental health organization committed to creating accessible, inclusive spaces for emotional wellbeing and growth. Designed to support adolescents aged 13–17 and their families, the project uses therapist-led workshops to foster communication, emotional literacy, and socioemotional
learning in ways that are creative, practical, and community-centered.
Rather than focusing solely on individual wellbeing, Roots & Wings recognizes the power of collective growth. By nurturing leadership in youth, encouraging open dialogue between
generations, and building practical emotional tools for everyday life, the project aims to strengthen the social fabric that holds communities together. Whether it’s through helping teens
explore identity and expression, or offering parents insight into how to support their children in a fast-changing world, the workshops are designed to connect people—not only to themselves, but to each other.
The Core Leadership Program is a dynamic 2-day initiative, designed to empower learners aged 15-17. The program’s curriculum integrates basic dialogue, media literacy, and art-based education to foster self-discovery, identity expression, and reflection. This adaptive leadership program further focuses on developing empathetic, socially aware, and purposeful individuals through various thought-provoking and learning activities around diverse themes to embed responsibility & connection and insight to action. Hence, equipping the young learners to navigate through their role as a changemaker enables participants to drive collective action with a clear shared vision.

Badal Do, an initiative focused on teacher sensitization with an aim to bring about inclusive and innovative tools in education. The initiative aimed at adopting creative methods to make peace, social inclusion, diversity and tolerance part of the educational experience, in the classrooms and beyond. The training entailed experiential learning, interactive teaching methods, a mix of teacher training modules and creative approaches through the use of collaborative spaces and mediums of theatre, arts, music and travel. The year-long project was led by a consortium of seven well-reputed organizations: AzCorp Entertainment, Beyond The Classroom Education (BTC), Pak-American Cultural Centre (PACC), Teachers’ Resource Centre (TRC), Children’s Museum for Peace and Human Rights (CMPHR), The School of Writing (TSW) and Mind Map Communications (MMC). Badal Do’s journey has been welcomed by 200+ schools and 400+ teachers in its initial phase.
From 2018 to 2020, Beyond The Classroom Education ran five cycles of its Bulandi Fellowship Program, a unique initiative aimed at fostering empathy, critical thinking, and identity awareness among students in their formative years. In collaboration with a former Harvard professor, BTC developed and implemented an active learning curriculum that exposed students to multiple narratives, encouraged questioning, and challenged intolerance. Delivered through workshops and experiential activities—such as simulating power imbalances in a tug-of-war game—the program aimed to build a generation of globally minded citizens. In its final year, the fellowship was conducted at Bali Memorial Trust and led by the 2019 Bulandi trainers, with a course outline centered on BTC’s core values.

This week-long program was designed to help students between the age 10-13 years to explore core values such as teamwork, empathy, leadership, responsibility, and inclusion through interactive, hands-on learning. Each day offered a carefully curated blend of energizers, group challenges, and reflective activities to ensure students remained engaged while deepening their understanding of meaningful social concepts.
Across five days, students participated in a variety of creative and thought-provoking exercises—from building LEGO towers with limited resources to designing posters on key values. They tackled challenges that emphasized the importance of discipline, education, collaboration, and equal opportunity. Through sports, storytelling, and role-play, they explored how society treats minority communities and reflected on the roles of victims, perpetrators, and bystanders. By the end of the program, students not only developed a stronger sense of social responsibility but also gained practical tools to be agents of change in their communities.

Beyond the Classroom’s school program, the Accelerated Learning Program, was implemented at over 100 schools, impacting 5000 children. This activity-based initiative prioritized the development of essential skills, including empathy, critical thinking, and social responsibility. From learning concepts of majority and minority through a game of tug of war to engaging in critical reflection at the end of the program, our vivacious team of trainers ensured that students experienced learning as a joyous experience!
